Tom Parkinson did a great job Tuesday evening, July 4th, tracking a weak tornado through Portage County. Tom, a trained storm spotter, first noticed the F-0 twister (max winds about 72 mph) skipping across the ground on Pioneer Trail just southwest of Hiram. The storm moved southeast at about 15 miles per hour through Garrettsville and Windham.
"It kept roping down and up and I saw no damage while driving." said Tom, also a Ham Radio Operator.
He followed the storm into Trumbull County while eastbound on Route 82. All the while reporting to the local Skywarn Network on Ham Radio. Notice the accuracy of the Power of 5's wind velocity product as it PINPOINTS THE EXACT LOCATION of the twister just south of Pioneer Trail!
